For the days ahead

This is a word I received earlier this year and now feel prompted to share. I believe these are prophetic nuggets to help navigate the season and to highlight blindspots as well as areas of focus. As always test the spirits, take it back to the Father and let the Holy Spirit bring the specifics as it pertains to your season.

Renew your yes
New mantles, assignments and callings have been released. They require a new conviction and a renewed yes. A willingness to die to self in new ways and to say yes again.
Count the cost and acknowledge the real changes that need to be made to go where God is calling and leading.

For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?

Luke 14:28

Discern, don’t look
The happenings need to be understood from the spiritual realm. Don’t be led by your eyes and what we see in the flesh. See through eyes of heaven. Look to the eyes of Jesus.

Don’t live from the knowledge of experience. Forget everything you think you know or understand. There are new roads and new rivers. And you have not been this way before. We need the leading of the Holy Spirit to guide us and to help us see past our preferences, our desires and our ideas of what the move of the Lord will look like in these times.

Listen carefully, I am about to do a new thing,
Now it will spring forth;
Will you not be aware of it?
I will even put a road in the wilderness,
Rivers in the desert.

Isaiah 43: 19

Don’t get swayed by the crowd.

Have the courage to go alone.

Have the courage to be the only one. The approval of man and the affirmation of man won’t cut it anymore. The rise in false prophets, deep fakes online and the loud buzz of the lies of the enemy will continue to rise. My sheep know my voice.

Go away from your country,
And from your relatives
And from your father’s house,
To the land which I will show you

Genesis 12:1

Embrace the change in circles.

Not everyone can come where you’re going.
This isn’t necessarily from a place of who is right or wrong.
Different assignments, callings and giftings
Different lanes,
Different outworkings,
Different timelines.

Remember your “good and faithful servant” is a solo report so don’t get so attached to going with those you’ve gone with before.
Trust that God will lead you to the right relationships, collaborators, co-builders. He’ll send those who speak the same language and share one heart and desire. They may look different from what we expect. Embrace them, discern who they are, who sent them and their role in this season and let them in.

Warning: Watch out for the idol of your own desires (to be cool, to be relevant, to be accepted, to be loved, to be seen). Many will come for the wrong reasons.

Go in faith
The authority has already been given. Do you have the courage and boldness to now go. To speak. To teach. To heal. To prophecy. To evangelize. To love. To serve. To live righteously. To be set apart. Pray for Boldness. Faith.

Abide and stay close to the Father.
Camp at his feet. Close enough to look into his eyes and hear the whispers of his heart.
Stay at his feet to escape the avalanche and debris that comes from shaking. Cling to Him so you’re planted and rooted. Stable in thought and conviction and clear on the Father’s agenda. As things continue to rattle it’ll be tempting to hold onto what’s been stable but that too will shake. He is the only anchor. He is the only firm foundation. His word of truth is the only stable thing.

Shake off the weights that so easily ensnare us.

Shake off every weight. Invite the holy spirit in to reveal all that holds us back and causes us to sin, and be willing to let things go. People, shows and music, podcasts, spaces we frequent, beliefs and lifestyles. If it does not honour God, let it go.

He’s calling us higher.
The old MUST pass away.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off every encumbrance and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with endurance the race set out for us.

Hebrews 12:1

Purge the idols of desire and will.
There’s so much we desire. And for many, it’s tied to the fulfilment of promises given by God. But these promises have indeed become idols and our one thing has become the desire to see them fulfilled. We’re obsessed and distracted because all we can think of and see is the fulfilment of these promises.

  • He is a covenant-keeping God. He watches his word to perform it.
  • Even if He doesn’t, He’s still God.
  • Surrender what has you and give it back to God. Let him bring it to pass.

Embrace the unknown
The prophetic is to edify and exhort but also to warn, challenge and correct.
The prophetic can make us addicted to knowing and being in control rather than trusting in the Father.
We only prophesy in part. So there’s much we don’t know. And the temptation can be to become obsessed with knowing and predicting rather than seeing the revelations and insights as an invitation to seek God, to abide in his presence and to intercede.
Release the desire to control and influence and trust that God is and always will be in control.

For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

1 Corinthians 13:9-12

Be encouraged. Receive these insights for the days ahead. Take it back to the Father and invite Him to further flesh it out and provide specifics for your season.
